He lived a rather typical life. Well as typical as could generally be when your mother was a drug ridden stripper at the local nude joint in the bad part of town. He grew up in a dangerous neighborhood full of rogue pokemon and a wish to get out of that hellhole and hopefully into somewhere nicer.

He got his wish, just not in the way he’d like it.

They found his mother 3 days after she had died from a heroin overdose and poor 6 year old Mickey was found clutching his stuffed meowth and lying in bed. He was whisked away swiftly off to an orphanage in the middle of a small town with bright sunshine and even brighter natives, someplace he almost felt at home but not quite. It was too small for him, far too cramped in its place. He couldn’t stand it, but he dealt with it as he grew, becoming more and more absorbed in the technological advances around him. He swept himself away in coding and studying pokemon, his dreams expanding into something larger than life.

He wanted to be a pokemon professor.

None of that lame champion stuff either, he was fine without all the badges and the status (well the status was exactly what he wanted – people remembered pokemon professors more than champions) and wanted simply to help the community by providing as much information about pokemon as he could. This came at a price however, and with the other children around him not understanding his reclusive nature he became subject to some rather….cruel jokes.

He retaliated in a way that people never really imagined would happen.

Mickey never really thought hitting someone would feel so good before he actually did it. In the orphanage playground he managed to punch a kid in the face who spit at him, and he could admit that feeling the crunch of bone under his fist was a weirdly thrilling experience. Sure he got in trouble for it but they couldn’t deny the bullying that had been going on for a good couple of months, and let him off easy. Especially when he pulled those sad eyes he was so accustomed to.

He learned a lot of things in very quick succession. One, fear was nice. Fear was very nice when it was thrumming through other people. Two, he could get away with a lot because he was pitied by the orphanage workers. Three, he really really liked working with his hands. That last one became obvious when he started rolling with the wrong crowd in towns, accompanied by his companion Desoula who he’d rescued from his bullies one day while wandering outside. The two were inseparable and despite the odds against a skinny orphan, Mickey became a menace.

Once he hit 18 he had a bloated ego and knew what he wanted. Spending a few years on the road and contributing to the science based community he became a rather respected member of pokemon science society, though his brash actions and even worse attitude cost him a lot of possible friendships. He spent years avoiding the most basic of human needs while creating a necessary industry in medicine and technology that would help boost the economy and provide numerous new advances, ones that he took a lot of credit for. While he gained the status of CEO of a new company he realized a bit too late it wasn’t what he wanted.

What he built up, he had no issues breaking down. He left the company which crippled it severely without their brilliant CEO watching over things, but he would much have rather continued fighting for his position as pokemon professor in the world.
