Kingdom Hearts
what you need to know
Kingdom Hearts: The basics
So here at Key to Your Heart, we love both games, however we realize not everyone might have played Kingdom Hearts and just want a nice wacky location to catch Pokemon. You’re in luck!
For one, the overall plots from the KH games will not apply here. We’re using this place for setting mostly and adding in the general monsters and allowing canon character use.
Keyblades and other weapons exclusive to the KH franchise will not be available here. Pokemon are the only way to truly defeat the monsters, though other weapons are capable of pushing, shoving and knocking them around.
Disney and Square Enix
The KH games revolve on mashing two very different types of characters into something resembling coherency. The fact that it works both from a visual and storytelling standpoint is astounding. As such it’s perfectly normal to see both Squall (FF8) and Merida (Brave) in the same locations.
Character wise, since we allow canons, this means you can play as Disney or Square Enix owned franchises if you wish!
This also means that our worlds are separated according to individual games or movies. While technically Tarzan and Mulan take place on Earth, each location is separated into it’s own unique world. Think of a single DvD or Bluray as it’s own location. Places you don’t see in the movies (Such as Jane being from England in Tarzan), do not exist on the world in question. While it’s a bit odd, this is mostly to prevent there from being several similar places on each world.
The same goes for Square Enix based worlds, though technically there hasn’t been any Final Fantasy specific locations yet. However they have made some unique locations in KH that are exclusive there and mainly function as hubs, such as Traverse Town.
Monsters
Kingdom Hearts had some very interesting monsters that we’ll be porting here. These creatures are corrupted and frequently harm or destroy both pokemon and people. And you can fight them here!
Heartless are… technically not heartless. Don’t ask me why, but I’m pretty sure Square Enix didn’t think that part through. They’re actually the stolen and corrupted hearts of individuals. Heartless can steal other people’s hearts and thus breed in this way. Pokemon are subject to this too.
Nobodies are… technically not body-less. When a particularly willful and strong individual has their heart stolen, the shell that's left behind changes and becomes a Nobody. These guys are generally smarter than Heartless, some even retaining human forms and intelligence. You won’t be seeing these guys here that often.
